“I'm pretty amazed at how Kendra directs instruction not only to age, but makes a point to gauge their general energy and mood before lessons start. During instruction she approaches tasks based on all this. Our lessons are at the end of the day and the efforts she pulls out of a tired 5 year old and a distracted 8 year old are impressive.“

I began lessons in the Suzuki Piano Method in elementary school and earned my graduate degree in Piano Pedagogy from Bob Jones University of Greenville, SC in 2009. In 2012, I completed my first certification in Suzuki Piano, and in 2017, I established the Upstate’s first Suzuki Early Childhood (Baby-Toddler) program.
The Suzuki Piano Method uses the same techniques that I have used to study Japanese the last 20 years. By initially prioritizing listening, imitation, and repetition, students build musical fluency AND achieve literacy. The results in my piano studio speak for themselves! My students are instinctively creative musicians. Additionally, they have won regional Gold Medals in the international Royal Conservatory piano exams, published original compositions in Clavier’s Piano Explorer magazine, and regularly perform in their school and church orchestras and bands.
I LOVE the increasing cultural, linguistic, and neurodiversity of the Upstate! I believe EVERY STUDENT can learn to create music—no matter their age! I look forward to meeting you and your family!
